Background of the Study

Communal conflicts are a recurring issue in Gassol Local Government Area, Taraba State, driven by factors such as competition over land, ethnic tensions, and resource scarcity. These conflicts often lead to loss of lives, displacement, and disruption of socio-economic activities. Development communication serves as a key tool in managing communal conflicts by promoting dialogue, fostering understanding, and encouraging conflict resolution. Platforms such as community dialogue forums, conflict-sensitive reporting, and participatory decision-making processes provide avenues for peaceful engagement and resolution (Okoro & Adamu, 2023). This study assesses the effectiveness of development communication strategies in addressing communal conflicts in Gassol LGA, focusing on their implementation and outcomes.

Despite efforts to resolve communal conflicts in Gassol LGA, tensions persist, often escalating into violence.
